Welcome to Ethan Siegel's Website

Coromandel Peninsula and Lake Taupo
The drive from the Bay of Islands to Pauanui was long, but the scenery was beautiful and we made a few stops along the way.
We found a beach that was almost completely empty, with the warmest water we have found so far.  We called Brooklyn from our rented cell phone & said hi to everyone at the Passover seder.
After a few hours of hugging the coastline, the scenery turned to farmland.  Lane practiced her mooing as we drove by.  The cows responded with some very interesting looks.
This is the treehut in Pauanui.  The hut was on a steep incline, and our deck on the front side was at the same level as the treetops.
I can't begin to tell you how much I like bugs.
This is Pauanui beach, and this is the day we were told the beach would be crowded for Easter.  The next 4 photos are also from Pauanui beach.
The coast near Whitianga is full of caves.
This is the raft we took out for a couple of hours with Captian Bob
Captain Cook landed not far from here and spent a long time making friends with the native Maori
We took the raft about 100 feet into one of the caves
The 15 years in a tent allowed Captain Bob to practice his music.  The acoustics in the cave were unbelievable.
We got a little soaked on the way back, but the raft was awesome
We arrived in Lake Taupo on the 29th.  Our house has 5 bedrooms, so you should all come over.  This is a photo of the thermal pool in the basement.  It fills with steaming hot mineral water in 20 minutes.  It's also about the scariest place on earth and a great place to dismember your enemies.
Filling it with water doesn't make it any less spooky.  But it is SOOOOO relaxing.
Lane gets serenaded as often as possible.  Still not regretting lugging the little guitar to the other side of the world.
